Privacy Policy

To provide the service and perform the Terms: creating and securing accounts, authenticating or linking accounts through a third-party sign-in provider when you choose that option, showing profiles and listings according to their visibility rules, matching players, managing groups and invitations, processing requests, and sharing contact details only through an accepted request, including unchanged previously shared methods when you have enabled contact reuse.

For legitimate interests: protecting accounts and the service, preventing spam and abuse, enforcing rate limits, reviewing reports, moderating content and accounts, maintaining staff accountability, diagnosing technical problems, and responding to ordinary support enquiries. AroundTable uses these interests only where they are not overridden by your rights and interests.

With your choice or consent: browser Location Services are used only when you actively request a location lookup and your browser permits access. You can deny browser permission or disable Location Services and choose a city manually instead.

For legal obligations: information may be processed or disclosed where applicable law requires AroundTable to do so.

Public listings can be viewed by visitors, while some details and member profiles require an authenticated and verified account. Information intended for matchmaking—such as username, profile picture, city-level location, games, languages, availability, and profile or listing text—can therefore be visible to other people according to the page's access rules.

Private contact methods saved under Contact Methods are not shown on your public profile. When a listing owner accepts an interest request, the owner chooses which of their own saved contact details to share with that requester. A user can optionally enable reuse of the same unchanged contact methods they previously shared with that same person; changed or newly added contact values are not reused without review.

Groups are private workspaces for their members. A public group-owned listing can identify that it belongs to a group without making the group's private workspace publicly available.

AroundTable does not need your home address. Location matching uses a city and that city's reference coordinates, so displayed distances are approximate rather than precise tracking of where you are.

If you press a current-location button, your browser asks for permission to provide device coordinates. AroundTable sends those coordinates to GeoNames to identify a nearby populated place. The detected city is shown to you for confirmation where the feature requires it. The original device coordinates are not saved as your profile location.

You can use manual city selection instead. Disabling Profile Location Services stops AroundTable from treating your saved city as Location-Services-confirmed; location required for in-person matching can still be supplied manually at city level.

Information is shared with other users or visitors only where the service feature requires it, as described above. Authorized AroundTable staff can access information needed for administration, support, security, and moderation.

AroundTable also relies on service providers and infrastructure needed to operate the site. These can include hosting and email-delivery providers. GeoNames is used for city search and location resolution. The site's Figtree web font is loaded from Bunny Fonts, so your browser contacts Bunny Fonts when it requests those font files.

If you choose third-party sign-in, AroundTable and the selected identity provider exchange the authentication information needed to verify the sign-in and, where requested, link it to your AroundTable account. When you first register with a supported provider, AroundTable may also copy the provider profile picture into your new profile when one is available; you can replace it or restore the generated default at any time. AroundTable intends to request only the permissions reasonably needed for authentication and account linking. The provider receives the information inherent in that authentication request and applies its own terms and privacy practices to its service.

The Help page offers an optional Google Translate handoff. Translation happens only if you choose it; you then leave AroundTable and Google's own terms and privacy practices apply.

Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with law, a binding legal request, or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. AroundTable does not sell personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

If a service provider processes information outside the European Economic Area, AroundTable will use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism where required, such as an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards.

Account and profile information, including any uploaded or imported profile-picture copy, is generally kept while your account remains active and while it is needed to provide the service. Replacing or restoring the generated profile picture removes the previous stored picture from active profile storage; a separate report-time copy can remain within an existing moderation report when needed as evidence. Different records can have shorter or longer periods where their purpose requires it.

A linked provider identifier and any basic provider information copied into your AroundTable account can be kept while the account remains linked or while it is needed to provide account access. Authentication credentials or tokens are retained only if technically necessary for the supported sign-in or linking feature and only for as long as they are needed. Unlinking a provider removes the link where the account can still be accessed safely by another supported method.

Ordinary non-actionable notifications are automatically removed after 35 days. Notifications that still require an outstanding action can remain until that action is no longer pending.

Contact messages are kept in the relevant mailbox only for as long as reasonably necessary to answer the enquiry, handle follow-up, prevent abuse, or deal with a dispute or legal requirement.

Staff audit history is retained for 730 days for moderation accountability, investigation of service abuse, security, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution, and is then permanently deleted. Audit records can retain account identifiers and historical snapshots needed to understand the staff action, including an email address where it forms part of that record. Reports and other moderation records are retained while reasonably necessary for their purpose.

External invitation records are retained while needed to deliver and manage invitations, enforce invitation limits, and prevent abuse. Retention periods are reviewed as the service develops.

Short-lived rate-limit event history used for listing creation, interest requests, and reports is automatically pruned on a scheduled basis after it is no longer needed for the active rolling limits.

Account deletion is permanent. AroundTable deletes the account and its authentication data together with account-linked resources that no longer have a valid reason to remain, including the account's stored profile-picture copy. Listings owned by the account are deleted. If the account owns active groups, those groups are dissolved and their listings are removed as part of the deletion process.

Deleting an account does not remove its staff-audit history early. Staff audit records, including identifiers and historical snapshots already recorded as part of a staff action, can remain until the normal 730-day retention period expires.

AroundTable uses only functional storage needed for the site to work, such as session, login, security, and interface-preference functionality. These are not used to build advertising profiles or follow you across unrelated websites.

If you choose third-party sign-in, you may be redirected to the selected provider or interact with its authentication service. Cookies or similar storage used on that provider's own service are controlled by that provider. AroundTable does not use social sign-in as a reason to add advertising or cross-site tracking to ordinary AroundTable pages.

AroundTable currently does not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or privacy-invasive analytics. Because the cookies currently used are necessary for the requested service, AroundTable does not show a cookie-consent banner. If the site's use of cookies or tracking technologies changes, this policy and the consent approach will be reviewed before those technologies are enabled.

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restriction of processing, portability of information you provided, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent for future processing.

AroundTable may need enough information to verify that a privacy request concerns your account before acting on it. To make a request, use the Contact form and choose Privacy request.

You also have the right to complain to a data-protection supervisory authority. In the Netherlands, the supervisory authority is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
