Terms of Service

Version 1.0 — effective 23 August 2026

The short version

AroundTable is a free tabletop matchmaking service. Use it lawfully, treat other people with respect, keep your account secure, and do not use the service to harass, deceive, exploit, or harm others.

AroundTable helps people find each other; it does not supervise games or meetings, verify every user, perform background checks, or guarantee another person’s conduct. You remain responsible for your own decisions and arrangements.

1. About these Terms

AroundTable is a personal project operated from the Netherlands by Andreas Kourtidis. These Terms govern your use of AroundTable and form the agreement between you and the operator when you create or use an account.

By creating an account or accepting a newer version of these Terms, you agree to follow them. If you do not agree, you must not continue using account-only features. You can still read these Terms and the Privacy Policy, contact AroundTable, log out, and delete your account.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create or use an AroundTable account. AroundTable does not currently collect dates of birth or require identity documents solely to verify age.

You must provide information that is reasonably accurate for the features you use and must not create an account for another person without their authorization.

If AroundTable reasonably determines that an account belongs to someone under 18, the account may be restricted or closed.

3. Accounts and security

You are responsible for protecting your password, linked sign-in methods, and other credentials used to access AroundTable, and for activity performed through your account. Do not share credentials or deliberately allow another person to impersonate you through your account.

Usernames must follow AroundTable’s username rules. AroundTable may require a username to be changed or reviewed where it is reserved, misleading, impersonating, abusive, or otherwise unsuitable for the service.

Keep an email address you control on the account so verification, security notices, and necessary service communications can reach you.

AroundTable may allow you to register, sign in, or link an account through a supported third-party identity provider such as Google or Discord. You remain responsible for access to that provider account. Linking or using a third-party account does not create a new right to bypass AroundTable suspensions, restrictions, duplicate-account safeguards, or other enforcement measures.

4. What AroundTable provides

AroundTable provides tools for finding tabletop players, publishing listings, expressing interest, organizing private groups, sending invitations, sharing selected contact methods after acceptance, and related community and moderation functions.

A listing, request, invitation, acceptance, group membership, or displayed distance is not a guarantee that a game will happen or that another user is suitable, safe, available, or truthful.

AroundTable is currently provided without a subscription fee. The operator may add, remove, or change features in the future subject to these Terms and applicable law.

5. Content you submit

You keep ownership of content you submit, such as profile text, listing descriptions, group information, introductions, and messages sent through supported service features.

You give AroundTable a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to host, reproduce, format, display, transmit, and otherwise process that content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the service. This permission ends when the content is deleted, except where limited copies or records must remain for legitimate moderation, security, dispute, backup, or legal purposes.

Only submit content you are entitled to use. Do not post or send material that unlawfully infringes another person’s privacy, intellectual property, or other rights.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use AroundTable to:

• break applicable law or encourage unlawful activity;
• harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate, or deliberately target another person for abuse;
• impersonate another person or falsely present yourself as AroundTable staff;
• scam, defraud, spam, mislead, or manipulate other users;
• publish or distribute another person’s private or contact information without authorization;
• submit deliberately false or abusive reports, interfere with moderation, or retaliate against someone for making a good-faith report;
• evade a suspension, restriction, ban, rate limit, or other protective measure;
• probe, attack, overload, disrupt, reverse-engineer, or bypass the service’s security or access controls except where applicable law expressly permits it;
• use malware, automated abuse, scraping, or bulk collection to obtain personal information or interfere with AroundTable; or
• use information obtained through AroundTable to harm, exploit, or harass another person on or off the service.

7. Listings, groups, requests, and contact sharing

Listings and group information should describe the intended game and arrangements honestly enough for other people to make an informed choice. Do not deliberately conceal material changes after someone has accepted an arrangement.

Interest requests and invitations must be used for genuine tabletop matchmaking and group organization, not unsolicited advertising, repeated unwanted contact, or pressure.

Private contact methods are shared only through supported acceptance flows and according to the choices available in the service. Once people move a conversation off AroundTable, that external service and the participants are responsible for what happens there.

8. Safety and in-person meetings

AroundTable facilitates introductions. It is not a party to games, meetings, travel, purchases, venue arrangements, or other agreements between users.

AroundTable does not currently perform identity verification, criminal-record checks, background checks, or in-person supervision unless a feature explicitly says otherwise.

Use your own judgment when interacting with people you meet through the service. For a first in-person meeting, consider a public place, tell someone you trust where you are going, arrange your own transport, and leave if you feel unsafe.

AroundTable is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service rather than relying on a report or Contact-form message to AroundTable.

9. Reports, moderation, and enforcement

AroundTable may review reports and service activity and may warn users, require corrections, hide or restore content, restrict features, suspend accounts, or close accounts where reasonably necessary for safety, security, legal compliance, abuse prevention, or enforcement of these Terms.

Moderation requires judgment and may not always produce the outcome a reporter or reported person wants. A report does not automatically prove wrongdoing, and AroundTable aims to consider the available context before taking significant account action.

Where practical, AroundTable will provide a reason for significant moderation action. If you believe a decision is wrong or needs clarification, use the Contact page to request review.

Do not attempt to obstruct an investigation, destroy relevant evidence after being asked to preserve it, or retaliate against another person for participating in a moderation process.

11. Third-party services, sign-in, and links

AroundTable depends on third-party infrastructure and services such as hosting, email delivery, GeoNames, Bunny Fonts, supported identity providers, and optional external links. Third-party services can have their own terms, privacy practices, availability, and technical failures. AroundTable does not control unrelated external services simply because the site links to or relies on them.

If you choose a third-party sign-in provider, your use of that provider remains subject to its own terms and account rules. AroundTable cannot guarantee that a provider will remain available or continue supporting a particular sign-in method. Where AroundTable offers more than one safe account-access method, you are responsible for maintaining access to at least one method you can use.

Social sign-in is intended for authentication and account linking, not for reading unrelated social content, contacts, private messages, or posting on your behalf. If AroundTable later offers a separate feature that needs broader provider permissions, that feature must identify those permissions before you choose to use it.

12. Service changes and availability

The service may be updated, redesigned, temporarily unavailable, limited, or discontinued. AroundTable will try to operate the service with reasonable care but does not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.

Where reasonably possible, material changes that significantly affect users will be communicated in advance or when they take effect. Security fixes, emergency maintenance, or legal requirements may require immediate changes.

13. Leaving AroundTable and account termination

You can permanently delete your account through the account controls, subject to safeguards that apply to protected administrative accounts and group ownership. Deletion can also remove or dissolve resources that depend on your account, as explained before you confirm deletion.

AroundTable may suspend or close an account for serious or repeated Terms violations, safety or security risks, illegal use, attempts to evade enforcement, or where continued operation of the account cannot reasonably be supported.

Provisions that by their nature need to survive account closure—such as legitimate moderation records, dispute handling, intellectual-property rights, and legal obligations—can continue to apply after the account ends.

14. AroundTable’s own materials

AroundTable’s software, branding, interface, original site text, and other materials created for the service remain the property of their respective rights holders. These Terms do not transfer ownership of those materials to users. Open-source components remain subject to their own licenses.

15. Responsibility and liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits responsibility that cannot legally be excluded or limited. Mandatory consumer and other statutory rights remain unaffected.

To the extent permitted by law, AroundTable is not responsible for losses caused by another user’s conduct, arrangements made between users, content supplied by users, failures of unrelated third-party services, or a user’s failure to secure their own account.

AroundTable is a free matchmaking platform rather than an organizer, employer, venue, payment intermediary, insurer, identity-verification service, or emergency service. Any assessment of responsibility must take that limited role into account.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by Dutch law, without taking away mandatory consumer protections that apply to you under the law of your country of residence where those protections cannot lawfully be waived.

If a dispute arises, please contact AroundTable first so there is a reasonable opportunity to understand and resolve the problem informally. If that does not resolve it, disputes can be brought before the courts that have jurisdiction under applicable law.

17. Changes to these Terms

AroundTable versions these Terms. Minor corrections or clarifications may be published without requiring a new acceptance. Material changes to user obligations, eligibility, moderation powers, or other significant rights may require notice and acceptance of a new Terms version before account-only use can continue.

The version and effective date shown at the top of this page identify the Terms currently in effect.
